Training & Competency Overview
The Global demand for cost competitive, reliable and clean electrical power has created intense competition among the power generation plant to constantly elevate their plant performance. Skillful and knowledgeable operation and maintenance (O&M) personnel is the key element for the operational efficiency and availability of the power station.
Effective training programs play a vital role in making performance improvement possible among the personnel. We at TJSB offer an array of specifically designed courses for plant personnel to acquire comprehensive understanding of plant capabilities and the confidence to handle any emergency situation competently.
Power Plant Foundation Programme
TJSB’s established capabilities of designing courses, and providing services around a particular plant or its topic encompasses the fundamental knowledge that provides the required skills to safely operate and maintain a Conventional Thermal, Open-Cycle or Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine power plants. With a team of dedicated trainers backed by their expertise in power plant operation and control, all trainings can be customised to suit our clientele needs, and be conducted at the venue of your choice.

Simulator Training Programme
Considered an effective tool for operational training, the Power Plant Simulator brings a virtual feel in operating an actual plant without incurring generation loss, or damaging any plant equipment. This programme elevates the Level of Competency, building up the confidence required to handle emergencies in real life situations. TJSB is equipped with 2 units of Combined-Cycle Power Plant Simulators, replicating 650MW of LPP Block 1 & 2, together with 640MW of GB3 Power Plants. Both were developed based on the gas turbine ABB GT13E2 model, utilising state of the art control systems called the PROCONTROL and ADVANT-P respectively.
2006 saw TJSB acquiring a specific plant simulator replicating the 2100MW Tanjung Bin Coal-Fired Power Plant. Adopting the latest Toshiba DCS, known as TOSMAP-DS with Toshiba Steam Turbine and IHI boiler, this simulator was also used to train oil-fired conventional plant operators. All trainings can be customised to client’s needs and requirements, and is conducted at our centres in Lumut Perak, as well as in Tanjung Bin’s Power Plant in Pontian, Johor that includes:
Plant Start Up & Shutdown Operations
Response to Major Plant Upsets
Process Malfunctions and Troubleshootings
Plant Normal Operations & Load Controls
Special Plant Operations
Plant Performances & Efficiencies
Maximum 3 weeks
Power Plant Inspection Courses
Besides a power plant foundation course, TJSB also offers custom-made power plant maintenance and advanced operational courses, brought by a highly qualified Subject-Matter-Trainer.
